As you begin to come back into your body, the realization that you cannot handle as much as you used to becomes very real.
Your body may experience anxiety, shortness of breath and pain or discomfort in a number of places.
This makes everything seem challenging.
It also is a good sign for where to work, what is not aligned, and what needs attention.
I was viewed as a high performer in my corporate job. I’ve often been praised for efficiency, planning, ability to get things done and appearing like I had it all together. My house, my yard, and my life all looked like ducks in a row. I did all of this with the power of dissociation.
When pressed, my breathing speeds up, my walking changes, my body dissociates, and I no longer take in the view just in front of my face. In this state I can get so much more done but I’m not present.
Today when my body tries to kick into this gear, my anxiety flares up. I start falling apart and my body calls out in pain in many places. Because I’ve committed to being present and authentic, trying to be the old efficient me does not align.
When you make the choice to be present, in your body, feel emotions and listen to your body it can often feel like life is so much harder.
I am so much “messier” than I used to be. I need more help, I need my friends, I need time to relax, I need comfort, I need to address how I actually feel. This can seem inconvenient, a burden or a lot for you and others around you.
Healing is a work in progress. Learning to listen, hear, and address what is happening in your body takes more time than ignoring all of its cries.
Last month I covered what to do when your body talks, how important it is to stop and take the time to hear what your body is asking for. It can be rest, evaluating what is happening, and it can be time to release a thought process or trapped emotions that are no longer serving the spiritually awakened you.
Honor the mind, body and spirit that is you and take the time to hear your body. As you work more with this concept, being present and providing what you need to feel authentic and present will become clear.
