Connected, Grounded & Rooted

I was blessed to be able to attend the Spring Jubilee at Bright Haven Farms recently and I sat in on the talk given by Bodhi Deva Ma from Sacred Roots.

She took a deep dive into what helps bring peace during the chaos or phrased another way, keeps you rooted.

Now I can’t promise that I will recap it perfectly since I did not realize when the talk started how important this topic was going to be for me.

I viewed myself as someone who checked all of the boxes when it came to grounded and rooted and well versed with Mother Earth based on my daily routine.

That said, clearly, I was missing an important piece of the puzzle.

Now you should know she beautifully connected all of the important components to the truck, roots-several types, and leaves/fruit of a tree…but I did not take good notes on that part, especially once I got my awe-hah moment.

I’ll recap the 5 connections I heard and then we can chat about them.

1.     To self

2.     The land where I live

3.     My ancestors

4.     Community

5.     Vertical Connection

To self:  It is so important to be present and in your own body.  This is the house that you live in and the person you spend the most time with.  Are they good roommates?  Do they treat you well?  Are they listening? I like to check in on myself, the voices that take over the floor, and give my body what it needs.  Where in my body am I feeling something out of the norm? Who is that voice speaking and where do I need to do some healing work?

To the land I live on:  OH MY GOD, this one got my attention.  This is exactly why I struggle so much daily, turns out I’m not connected to anywhere.  Not where I grew up, not where I live today, and not where I made a home for over 12 years with a house and yard I LOVED.  It never occurred to me that you could show a home and a yard love but not be properly connected to it.  I went home and sat on my patio in the swing (my favorite new place) and I asked the land if I could connect to it, y’all it brought me so much peace immediately.  I’ve been like a balloon on the end of a string on a windy day until that moment. Highly recommend disconnecting from all of the places you are not and getting connected to the one you sleep at.

My ancestors: One of the first loved ones who came through with a message was my grandmother.  She also was the first loved one that came to me and allowed me to share messages with my mom, her daughter.  I’ve done lots of ancestral healing with both lines and I’m fortunate to have two great grandmothers-one who was a witch and one who was an alchemist who give me spells, recipes, healing tinctures and teas.  Knowing where and who you came from and what is being carried within you is a big deal.  Even if you don’t have a relationship with your earth family, you are connected.  You have the ability to tap into the gifts and information that they had available and utilize that today.  I love knowing that I have relatives I’ve never met taking their time to concoct things in the kitchen.  For those of you who know me well, one of the great grandmothers is who had me making lemon bars for months.  Turning something sour into something sweet, alchemy. *Special note to only connect with healed ancestors.

Community: If you know me this is one of the biggest changes to me and my views since being on a healing journey.  I have so much more compassion for people and what they are navigating than ever before.  I enjoy being in community and even started a women’s circle that includes people that I’ve healed with and learned from so we can be a support to each other.  If I can give you any advice here, find your people.  Find someone who you feel are comfortable asking for help and support.  Healing is hard enough without support, don’t do it alone.

And finally vertical connection, to Mother Earth and Source, connecting here before you start going outside of yourself.  This connection is critical.  I do this during meditation, I ground and connect to Mother Earth-we have a little chat, then I move through my chakras, and continue up to Source-and we have a little chat, then I connect both of the energies within my own heart.  I send it throughout my body, I send it out to those I interact with and then I send love and support to Mother Earth, because we have an agreement. But that is between her and I.

You can see why that talk was so impactful.

I will add one area of note.  I think the place where you spend time/live should feel like a safe sanctuary too.  That can mean so many different things but go based on what that means for you.  What is important for you to feel safe, comfortable, and where you can relax and ground yourself?

I was missing such a critical piece to my own stability; grateful I was in the right place at the right time to find the missing piece of my puzzle.  What area are you working on right now?
